Have a great holiday. See you Monday, November 26, 2007!
5th Grade has been “Rockin’” since we have moved into the new building! Our new classroom has all new technology and lots of space to work in.
Math classes have kept us calculating perimeters, area, volume, and working with fractions. Now we are working on strategies to solve word problems. We demonstrate understanding of mathematical concepts by using them to solve problems, representing them in multiple ways (through numbers, graphs, symbols, diagrams, or works, as appropriate), and then we explain them to someone else.
In Science we studied earthquakes. We designed, built, and tested water towers to ensure that they could withstand an earthquake. You can see our water towers and read about our study in the display case outside of the Media Center.
